Smeogal, Gollum, Moody, Mark Eckel

Mark, I heard your piece about smegel and Gollum on Moody this am. It was excellent. You have a link to a transcript of that, brother ?

>> CM: Mark, where can I access this? Is this a radio interview, podcast? It seemed to have aired on the Cleveland Moody station, but has been taken down. (Not cached, either).

Mark Eckel's Amazon.com "aStore"

Mark,

Idea: if you successfully send one of your Twitter followers to Amazon and they rent or buy the movie, then you should get a cut of that sale. And, in fact, you can do that by becoming an associate seller on amazon by getting an “aStore.”

Here is the play:

  1. You sign up at www.amazon.com. (Search for Amazon Associates.) (I’m pretty sure that you will need a credit card for commission checks, etc.)
  2. You give me the username/password so that I can get into your store and produce specially coded links that enable you to get credit for buyers who rent or buy thanks to your marketing.
  3. As I compose tweets, etc., I will continue to include links to Amazon, but they will be specially coded to trigger a commission for you.
  4. You can also generate coded links for the blog posts you now upload every Tuesday.
  5. You will not make a lot of money at this, but a larger reason is that this conditions your readers/followers to mentally start picturing you as a growing, more serious and expansive brand. Yes, I know, you blush at the suggestion of such things, and that's fine; you blush 'aw shucks' and just let me worry about these things.
So, for example, if you click this icon and make a purchase, I'll get a commission of the rental or sale.

Chris, thanks.  I'm grateful for your work on my behalf.  A couple of ideas about the movies.  I think ratings are important on every one that goes out through Twitter.  It lets people know what they may be in for.

[Chris Mann ] I agree. Are you willing to go through each of your movie posts and do this? Whatever scale(s) you come up with, I would encourage you to give it at least 51% science; you have reviewed so many movies that shooting from the hip will become apparent sooner than later.

Who would you like to follow?

Subject: Who would you like to follow?

Mark,

I’m going to start following people for you for Twitter. Please begin the process of telling me who you would like to follow. Idea: These are people that I will occasionally “retweet” their tweets because their tweets are especially good, useful, educational, etc.

Benefit:
  1. Your followers get another dose of education.
  2. The people whose tweets get retweeted are notified that you did this, and it builds affinity between you and the original source of the tweet.
Hazards to manage:
  1. Your ghost writer is doing this from “@MarkEckel” and not Mark Eckel himself. The way you manage this is by adopting this kind of public posture: “I do a little Twitter but I have a trusted editorial assistant who helps manage a lot of my social media platform. We work closely together and he helps me convey good content for my subscribers.
  2. If we were tweeting from something like “@WarpAndWoof” then the public posture leash could be a little longer/different, in that you would be the “Publisher” and I might be a managing editor, etc. Food for thought down the road.

So, who do you want to follow?

Chris

Treasure trove of ME's material.

ME to CM via email on 6/26/13: "Good news! I have run across a treasure-trove of CDs of teaching and speaking I have done over the past 5 years I had forgotten about!  Let me know how you want to transfer the work to digital. I have no clue about such things. Included in the trove are scores of 3 minute, Moody Radio commentaries."
